Jetbrains Toolbox is intended to help you install, update, and remove various JetBrains tools (IDEs, utilities and extensions), which are targeted towards software developers and project managers. The program has an easy-to-use interface with two tabs: one devoted to managing JetBrains projects and the other for maintaining their tools.

Having a tab specifically meant to manage your projects comes in extremely practical. It means that you can access all your current projects from a single place, even if they were created on different IDEs. What is more, the possibility of pinning your favorite entries and the availability of a quick search features contribute to finding the desired project at the blink of an eye.

Yet, the main function of Jetbrains Toolbox is related to managing such products as IntelliJ IDEA, PhpStorm, Rider, PyCharm, ReSharper, RubyMine, DataGrip, GoLand, CLion, ReSharperC++ and icon_AppCode. This way, it supports operations like downloading and installation of any of these products, updating ones already installed (even in batches) as well as uninstalling those you no longer need. Likewise, the toolbox is very convenient when it comes to managing product versions. In this respect, it supports handling various versions of the same Jetbrains product at the same time. Similarly, it lets install the desired version (not necessarily the latest), roll back to a previous one and uninstall the product altogether. Besides, it can save time and bandwidth by downloading patches instead of the whole package, which also happens in the background.

Luckily, JetBrains Toolbox integrates with various project-sharing platforms, such as GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket. Similarly, there is a Google Chrome extension that lets you readily access GitHub projects. Besides, it is very convenient that you can switch operating system without difficulty, as there are versions for Mac OS X and Linux as well.

In general, JetBrain developers are likely to consider this product highly convenient and time-saving. JetBrain Toolbox is available for downloading from the developers’ website, an opportunity to give it a try you should not miss. However, it is fair to say that the program served to introduce a new licensing model based on a monthly or yearly subscription instead of a perpetual purchase, a move which has been sadly unwelcomed by users of JetBrain products.
